How Does MovingPlace.com Provide the Best Interstate Moving Estimates?

Movingplace blends the convenience of full service moving with the value of a rental truck. You load, we drive, you save. Why risk driving a rented moving truck across the country or pay the high price of full-service moving? Take control of your move and peace of mind in the process. Movingplace LLC, (License #MC807665) will arrange for a moving truck to come to your home. In most service locations, that moving van will be equipped with a loading ramp (to easily access the moving truck), a bulkhead wall (to safely separate your goods from any others on the truck), and a dolly. You Load. We Drive to your new home where you unload. There are options to have up to 3 days for loading and 3 days for unloading. Our moving truck service is simple and, best of all, inexpensive when compared to full service moving!

Question to MovingPlace

from Jerry K. in IL - Monday, May 25, 2020

1) How do I estimate how much space I'll need in the truck? I have a few dozen stackable bins, a couple dozen moving boxes, sectional sofa, 2 upholstered chairs, kitchen table (disassembled), 6 wooden kitchen chairs, an elliptical machine and a fold-able treadmill. Do I measure the bins and boxes - if so, how high can they be stacked? I have numerous ratchet straps and bungee cords to secure the load every few feet, but I need a good way to estimate how many lineal feet based on the width and height of the truck interior. 2) Assuming the truck space is shared, how do you guarantee my items will not be taken by mistake by somebody else if the truck delivers to them first?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Jerry, Great questions. The moving trucks are all 8 feet wide and 9 feet tall inside. The variable is the length. If you measure out a space in your home that is 8ft wide and 9ft tall, you can then get a "feel" for how much length to order. We will also give you a rate for what each additional foot of space will cost if you end up needing a little more on loading day. You will not run out of space! We only haul one household goods shipment on each truck. Your shipment will be the first thing on the truck and will go right against the front wall. Once you are done loading, a bulkhead wall is installed that separates your goods into a "private compartment". We then load general boxed and crated freight at a freight terminal to fill out the truck. Your goods are never left in front of someone else's home nor are they taken off of the truck. We transport the truck to the destination, drop off the boxed freight at a destination freight terminal, and bring the truck to you to unload your household goods. So, when we say that it is a shared truck, we really mean that it is only shared with freight, not other peoples' belongings. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Michele C. in NC - Wednesday, April 29, 2020

I have some furniture items that need to be moved from my moms estate in Alabama to my home in NC. How would I go about finding a shared moving truck space for this

MovingPlace Response

Hi Michele, We can certainly help you with this. We just need to figure out how much space you would need on the moving truck and put together some pricing. You can fill out our quote form for this or feel free to give us a call at 800-876-6839 and we can quickly get your pricing over the phone as well. Thank you for your interest. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Karen B. in NE - Wednesday, April 29, 2020

We are moving from NE to AZ and will need storage for about 6 months once the units would arrive there. Do you operate in Lincoln? Do you provide climate controlled storage for that length of time? Or would we need to rent storage elsewhere and just unload the unit? I need this information before I choose a moving company.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Karen, We can help you with storage, but our limit of storage is 3 months. We actually keep everything right on the same moving truck and hold it at our secure terminal in your destination city until you are ready for it. For the amount of time that you need, it would be necessary to take it to a storage facility and offload it, which is totally fine. We deliver to storage facilities across the country on almost a daily basis. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Chris S. in MI - Tuesday, April 7, 2020

I have a daughter who has baby items that need to get moved from Cambridge, MA to Grand Rapids, MI, or to St. Louis. It would be quite a small load: stroller, basinette, and some boxes of baby clothes. Could you give me an approximate cost?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Chris, For small loads like this, we recommend shipping everything using UPS ground. That is a better choice. Even on a shared moving truck, our minimum shipment is going to be over $1000 for that move. I imagine you can get that shipped in UPS ground freight for a fraction of that. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Mikkel H. in CO - Tuesday, April 7, 2020

In the 28' trailer: 1) is it possible to secure the load with tie-downs? How many tie-down ports are there? Are tie-downs provided? 2) is it possible to secure the load with load bars? Are load bars provided? Thanks

MovingPlace Response

HI Mikkel, All of our moving trucks are logistics trucks. This means that every 16 inches throughout the truck are tracks embedded in the walls with places for straps (from the roof to just above the floor). You can use your own straps there. The trucks are also equipped with logistics bars which slide up and down in those tracks and are provided. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Doreen H. in CA - Monday, March 2, 2020

Hi, I am looking for a possible truck who will have some extr space on board for 2 pieces of furniture we want to deliver to IA or MN from CA. Obviously do not want to spend a lot for 2 pieces of furniture.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Doreen, While we do have some options for shared moving trucks, we still have minimum shipment sizes of 4ft x 8ft sections on the moving vans. This is not very cost-effective for moving just a couple of pieces. We suggest the UPS Store when shipping just a few items. They have some ground freight options where they box or crate what you need to ship. It is really quite inexpensive and convenient. Good luck with your move! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Sabrina W. in FL - Monday, March 2, 2020

I am moving from Boca Raton FL to San Diego CA. I have 2 Toyota Tundra plus furniture to ship. Please let me know how much is that. Will be in July 2020

MovingPlace Response

Hi Sabrina, We can certainly help you with moving your car and furniture. We ship the furniture on a moving truck and the Toyota will go on an auto transporter (the big trucks you see that haul 8 or 9 cars at a time out on the interstate). For pricing, please either fill out our quote form to have a price emailed to you or give us a call at 800-876-6839. We do not put pricing on the Q&A because the prices change according to dates and demand. Movingplace
